Globální ekologická a ekonomická krize vyvolaná dlouhodobým drancováním přírodních zdrojů způsobila, že si stále intenzivněji uvědomujeme nejen neudržitelnost tohoto systému, ale také možnost příchodu doby, která nastane po jeho zhroucení. V postpravdivém světě plném společenských a sociálních nejistot, dezinformací a konspiračních teorií dochází k rozvratu racionálna.
Téma výstavy souvisí s širším vývojem v rámci současné kulturní scény a soustředí se na aktuální podobu romantických tendencí ve výtvarném umění. Jako první z přehlídek nové výstavní dramaturgie MeetFactory se expozice také částečně ohlíží za mezinárodním projektem Afterbirth of a Dream kurátorů Cristiny Gigliotti a Jana Zálešáka z roku 2017, který u nás jako jeden z prvních představil některé z uměleckých přístupů a témat, jejichž význam pro aktuální směřování umění se výrazně projevil až v následujících letech.
Díla autorek a autorů vybraných pro výstavu Kingdom of Hex ale nemají charakter antropocénního umění, které se nás snaží varovat před nevyhnutelnou katastrofou. Přenášejí nás do světa, kde racionalitu střídá magie a bytosti, které se v tomto světě vyskytují, již nejsou lidskými kapitalisty drancujícími přírodu v honbě za nekončícím ziskem. Jsou novým, vnímavějším a citlivějším druhem, který žije v době, pro kterou fungují zákony jiné reality. Tomuto světu dominuje síla přírody, bezčasí, nadpřirozené jevy a magické rituály, pohádkové příběhy plné mytických hrdinů a kouzel, vrací se romantika, horor, dekadence či psychedelie. Zároveň nám ale někteří z vystavujících autorů naznačí určitou civilnější formu, kterou by se doposud výrazně dekorativní pojetí estetiky nového romantismu mohlo vydat.

The global ecological and economic crisis caused by the long-term plundering of natural resources has made us increasingly aware not only of the unsustainability of this system, but also of the possibility of a post-collapse era. In a post-truth world full of social and societal uncertainties, misinformation and conspiracy theories, rationality is being subverted.
The theme of the exhibition is related to broader developments within the contemporary cultural scene and focuses on the current form of romantic tendencies in the visual arts. As the first show in the new MeetFactory exhibition dramaturgy, the exhibition also looks back in part to the international project Afterbirth of a Dream by curators Cristina Gigliotti and Jan Zálešák from 2017, which was one of the first to present some of the artistic approaches and themes whose significance for the current direction of art has only become apparent in subsequent years.
The works of the artists selected for the Kingdom of Hex exhibition, however, do not have the character of Anthropocene art that tries to warn us of an inevitable catastrophe. They transport us to a world where rationality has been replaced by magic and the beings that exist in this world are no longer human capitalists plundering nature in pursuit of endless profit. They are a new, more perceptive and sensitive species, living in an age for which the laws of another reality operate.This world is dominated by the power of nature, timelessness, supernatural phenomena and magical rituals, fairy tales full of mythical heroes and magic, the return of romance, horror, decadence and psychedelia. At the same time, however, some of the exhibiting artists hint at a more civil form that the hitherto highly decorative aesthetics of the New Romanticism might take.
